John wants to have a thorough understanding of the client's desires in wood, tonal characteristics, and the typical venue in which the instrument will be played.  As the project becomes more defined, the client can select set-up specifications such as brand of tuners, nut width, string spacing and action height.

Cost will vary for each custom project. A base model with Indian Rosewood sides and back, Engelmann Spruce top, Sloan tuners, French polish, Bodyguard™ finish protector and hard shell case would cost around $3,700 (add $300 for German Spruce top).  Next day shipping is included.  A quote for a custom project is good for six months and a deposit of 10% is required prior to construction.  The backlog time for a custom guitar varies, but is presently in the area of 12 weeks.

If you are looking for a shorter waiting period, John usually has a small selection of guitars that are substantially complete (they have not been set up or had tuners installed).  These guitars are of the same fine quality as the custom guitars.  Inquire if you are interested in purchasing one of these fine instruments.
